Kavango Resources unveils structural insights on Zimbabwe’s Hillside gold project

Must read

Kavango Resources has released its first technical update on the ongoing structural analysis at the Hillside gold project in Zimbabwe’s Filabusi Greenstone Belt. Conducted in collaboration with Murgana Structural Consulting (Bulgaria), the study marks a significant step in understanding the geological framework that controls gold mineralisation at the site.

Kinematic framework

Key gold-bearing quartz veins have been confirmed at the Nightshift, Bill’s Luck, and Steenbok prospects, where they are hosted within well-developed shear zones. According to Kavango, these preliminary structural interpretations are vital to identifying the kinematic framework of the shear zones. Such understanding is crucial in mapping the geometry of mineralised zones, refining exploration strategies, and improving vein identification in drill cores.

One notable insight relates to stretching lineations, which may have influenced fluid flow during mineralisation. This understanding could provide predictive insights into orebody orientation, potentially increasing the efficiency of exploration drilling.

CEO Ben Turney stated that the company will publish more technical bulletins aimed at exploration and mining experts. “Understanding the structural controls for gold mineralisation is crucial for discovering gold mines,” he noted, adding that oblique-dominated shear zones and reactivated fabrics will serve as important targeting criteria moving forward.
