China, Egypt ink a joint cooperation protocol in mining

The Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) of Egypt has signed a joint cooperation protocol with China’s Hunan Institute of Geology to enhance collaboration in the mining and geological sectors.

The agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise in several key areas, including geological and aerial surveys, mineral exploration, satellite image analysis, and interpretation. It also covers advanced studies focused on adding value to mineral resources and specialized training programs for Egyptian geologists and technical personnel.

Joint opportunities

The partnership was announced following a high-level meeting between MRMIA Chairman Yasser Ramadan and a visiting delegation from the Hunan Institute. The session focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring joint opportunities in mineral exploration and development.

Ramadan highlighted the longstanding strategic ties between Egypt and China, noting the authority’s commitment to expanding international partnerships. He also outlined MRMIA’s current initiatives and operational scope within the mining sector.
